Here is the Character Bios. I will include basic info about each character, what happens to them over the process of the game, and info about their ultimate weapon - e.g. location and how the weapon's strength is altered. I've also included a few tunes for some of the characters. I won't include all of the tunes, like I orginally planned, as it would take up to much space. Please go to the bottom of the page, and select the tune you want to hear (the default is Cid's Tune). Note: Ultimate weapons have 8 materia slots, but they do not offer any materia growth, so only use Mastered materia, or the Enemy Skills materia. Main Characters: - You will meet all of these guys/gals as you progress through out FF7. With the exception of Cait Sith, you will also need to take them with you during a section in the game. |
Name: Cloud Strife Age: 21 Place of Birth: Nibelhem Job: Ex-SOlDIER/Mercenary Weapon: Sword Gender: Male Bio: Cloud is the main character in FF7. He starts out as a member of SOLDIER, but for some reason leaves. He then decided to become a Mercenary, which is how me met AVALANCHE. He seems to have "holes" in his memory. What he doesn't know, is that what he tells his friends, is actually a lie. Only Tifa knows the truth, probably hiding it to keep Cloud happy. Cloud is also the victim of being manipulated by Sephiroth, which can be a real disadvantage to him and his friends. His best sword is Ultimate Weapon, which can be found by killing Ultima Weapon at the end of disk 2/start of disk 3. This sword is affected by how much health Cloud has - the weaker he is, the more blue the sword will become, and the weaker the attacks it will do. I have to say, that Cloud is COOL!!! He's one of my fav FF7 characters. His sword attack are excellent, and he has some excellent Limit Breaks, like Omni-Slash. Mmmm, Omni-Slash. He beats Squall any day. |
Name: Barret Wallace Age: 35 Place of Birth: North Corel Job: Leader of AVALANCHE Weapon: Gun Arm Gender: Male Bio: Barret is also a main character in FF7. He leads AVALANCHE into battle against Shinra, as Barret knows the harm they are doing to the world. Shinra also destroyed his home town - North Coral, killing his wife, as well as making Barret lost his right hand in an attempt to save his friend Dyne. At first Barret used a prosthetic arm, but soon had a gun put their instead, so he could fight Shinra. He also has a daughter - Marlene, who some sources say is in fact his adopted daughter. I'm a bit confused about this. His best gun is Missing Score, which can be obtained at the end of disk 2. Barret needs to be in your party as you go up to fight Hojo. If he is, then a treasure chest will appear on the stairs, with the weapon inside. The weapon's strength is affected by materia's AP, so mastered materia is the best. But I recommend you only use a few pieces, otherwise you will weaken him. Barret is a decent FF7 character. He has loads of strength, and some cool limit breaks. But he ain't good with materia, so he shouldn't be used if you want to grow it. D'oh!!! |
Name: Tifa Lockheart Age: 20 Place of Birth: Nibelhem Job: AVALANCHE member Weapon: Gloves Gender: Female Bio: Tifa is another of FF7's main characters. She was a childhood friend of Cloud, and also has a crush on him. Before Cloud left Nibelhem, he mad a promise to her, to protect her if ever she was in danger, and she ain't gona make him forget it. She is also a strong martial artist, so don't mess. When she moved to Midgar, she set a bar, called , which is where she met Barret, and became an AVALANCHE member. Her best Gloves are the Premium Hearts. they can be found in Wall Market on disk 2/3. You need to enter Midgar with the Key (see tips section for its location), and return to Wall Market. Once there, go back to the machine with the gun which shoots at you (as it has been fixed), and look at it. The machine will break down once again. The gloves are affected by the Limit Bar. The fuller it is, the more damage it does. When it's empty, the gloves do little damage. D'oh!!! Tifa is another of my fave FF7 characters (in more ways than one ;-) ). Although she isn't as strong as Cloud or Barret, she is still good, especially if you spend time to build her up. Her Limit Breaks are different from the rest, but very good. Tifa is one sexy minx. |
Name: Aeris Gainsborough Age: 22 Place of Birth: Unknown Job: Flower Seller Weapon: Rod Gender: Female Bio: Like the above three, Aeris is one of the main FF7 characters. She (briefly) meets Cloud, just after he and Barret blow up the #1 reactor. She then meets him again when he comes crashing through the roof of her church. She starts off selling flowers, but soon joins Cloud a) for protection, and b) for a date. She is also the last of the Ancients - a race of people who seem to have weird powers, and can talk to the planet. I don't really know much else about them (if any one does, please let me know). However, something happens to her at the end of disk one. Something that changes Aeris for the rest of the game Aeris top weapon is Princess Guard, which is different from the other ultimate weapons, as it doesn't have 8 materia slots, and it allows materia to grow. It is said to power up when other characters are dead. I like Aeris. Admittedly, she isn't one of my favourites, but I like her. She is the kind of gal you'd wana hang with, or even date (but I prefer Tifa). However, she isn't that popular with some fans, especially when it comes to battle. Aeris is a Magic user. This means she has better magic skills than fighting skills, making her physically weak. Some fans then used this as a reason to hate her, including myself. But, after playing FF9, I understand magic users better, and have grown to like Aeris. |
Name: Red XIII Age: 45 Place of Birth: Cosmo Canyon Job: Beast Weapon: Head Dress Gender: Male Bio: Although not as important as Cloud, Barret, Tifa and Aeris, Red - or should I say Nanaki (which is his real name - Hojo gave him the name Red XIII because he is a Red, and his 13th specimen) is still important. He meets the team when Hojo wishes to breed Red + Aeris as they are both last of their species. Don't ask how. Red pretend to "attack" Aeris, so he could throw off Hojo, and joins AVALANCHE until they reach his home town Cosmo Canyon. How ever, he stays with the group to the end. People are not sure what Red is. True, he is a "Red", but what is a Red? A type of big cat? Lion? Wolf? Bear? Being a cat lover, I think he is some kind of Lion. His paws look like a lions, an so does his face. Sure, he howls, but he also talks. Red's top weapon is the Limited Moon. He gets it by taking him to Cosmo Canyon on disk 3. He will talk to his grandfather, who will pass away, and give him Limited Moon. It is powered up by the amount of MP Red has - the more the better. I like Red. I like him a lot. My favourite team is Cloud, Red + Tifa. Red is just excellent. I just can't describe how cool he is. Red Rocks!!! |
Name: Cait Sith Age: Unknown Place of Birth: Unknown Job: Toysaurus Weapon: Megaphone Gender: Male Bio: Not much is really know about Cait Sith at the start of the game. He's this weird cat like creature on top of a very big mog, who tries to tell your fortune, tries being the key world. It isn't till later in the game, that you learn he is infact Reeve of Shinra, who controls Cait Sith like some remote control toy. I'm not sure about this, but I think Reeve doesn't always agree with Shinra, which is why he sticks with AVALANCHE, so he can help them destroy Shinra (If you have any info. about this, then please e-mail me at: PeteFF7@yahoo.co.uk). Cait's best weapon is HP Shout. It can be found on the 64th floor of the Shinra Building. To reach this, always take a left when you raid Shinra at the end of Disk 2. When your outside the building, go to the 64th floor, and go to the back lockers, opening each one (or try to) until you find the one with HP Shout in. I think it is affected by the amount of HP Cait has, like with Cloud's Ultimate Weapon. Cait is OK. His Dice Limit Break is nice at the start of the game, and it grows as Cait does. He's OK in battle, but I rarely use him. I prefere Cloud, Barret, Tifa, Red + Cid. |
Name: Cid Highwind Age: 32 Place of Birth: Unknown Job: Pilot Weapon: Spear Gender: Male Bio: Cid is one of the best Pilots in the world. He cares about his plane the Tiny Bronco, and (I think) owns the great Highwind. Admittedly, he has a foul mouth, and enjoys a good smoke, but hey, no one's perfect. Cid has always dreamed of going into space, and with the help of Shinra, was almost given that chance. As the Rocket was taking off, Cid learned that one of the crew - was still in the rocket, checking the Oxygen tanks. Cid told her to get off, as she would otherwise be burned, but she stayed there. Cid aborted the mission, and was never able to go into space. He decides to join AVALANCHE for something to do, but later on in the game, gets to go into space. Cid's best weapon is Venus Gospel. It can be obtained by repeatedly talking to the old man after the rocket has taken off on Disk 2. Keep talking until he gives it to you. I think the weapon is affected by the amount of MP Cid has, but I'll need to check that. I like Cid. He's funny, and a good fighter, as he has some excellent limit breaks. He is also the only character in the game (besides Cloud) to have a weapon with triple materia grow. Cool!!! Hidden Characters: - You don't need to meet these two to complete the game. However, they contain more information about the story in FF7, i.e. if you don't meet them, you won't know the whole story. With both of them, you need to pass a "test" to obtain them. I'll include that in the tips and secrets section. Note: Even if you meet them, they won't apear in any FMV. D'oh!!! |
Name: Yuffie Kisaragi Age: 16 Place of Birth: Wutai Job: Ninja/Materia Hunter Weapon: Throwing Star Gender: Female Bio: The daughter of Lord Godo - the ruler of Wutai. She left Wutai to hunt for Materia, as Wutai had lost to Shinra in some war. The idea was to make Wutai strong again. She joins AVALANCHE after fighting them, in the hopes of nicking their Materia Her best weapon is Conformer. It can be found in the room nearest the stairs in the sunken plane. Once entered, go to the bottom floor, and go to the top left hand corner. I believe it is affected by her MP, but I'm not 100% sure on this. Yuffie is an OK character. Yuffie is at times annoying. Don't ask me why, but she is. But she can also be funny. One her left arm is a weird cast-like thing. When she gets mad, she "thrusts" (if that is the right word) it at people. It's funny to watch. |
Name: Vincent Valentine Age: 27 Place of Birth: Unknown Job: Unemployed/Ex-Turk Weapon: Gun Gender: Male Bio: Not much is known about Vincent. You learn he was once a member of the Turks in the flashbacks in the waterfall, talking with Vincent's beloved Lucrecia. He was shot by Hojo, and (some how) brought back to life. Becuase of this, he wishes to meet Hojo, and settle an old score... Some people believe he is some kind of Vampire - thoese red eyes, fact he can fly, sleeping in a coffin and the ability to morph, but then again, he isn't affected by sun light or drinks blood. His best weapon is Death Penalty. It can be obtained by going to the waterfall in the Nibel area on disk 2. Then, return on disk 3. Oh yeah, Vincent needs to be in your party before you can proceed.. And you also need a Gold Chocobo or the Submarine to reach it. However, the weapon is really weak. It's strength depends on the number of monsters Vincent has killed. The more he kills, the stronger it becomes. However, it gets weaker if the other characters kill monsters. I used to use Vincent a lot in my team, but i have noticed how weak he is. While the rest of the team does say 1000 odd damage, he does say 800/900 odd damage. His Limit Breaks are OK, but you loose control of him every time you preforme one. D'oh. They can both help and hinder in battle as he may heal the enemy with an element attack. Grrrr. But he is OK. The Bad Guys: - The villains. The people you need to stop. At the mo, I'll only do the great Sephiroth, but I will add in others at a later date. Hope they don't scare you (he he hee). |
Name: The Great Sephiroth Age: Unknown Place of Birth: Unknown Job: Top ranking SOLDIER officer Weapon: The long sword Masamune Gender: Male Bio: Bow down before the greath and powerful Sephiroth. The most powerful Final Fantasy villain to date. Stronger than FF8's Sorceresses, more powerful than Seifer, and could easily mop the floor with Kuja/Trance Kuja. Oh yeah, and he is a lunatic - just don't say that to his face, or else he would kill you. He is the son of Lucrecia - Vincent's sweethart and the mad scientist Hojo!!! Sephy was exposed to JENOVA cells when he was young (possibly before he was born) making him the strong fighter he is. He became a member of SOLDIER and soon become its top member. He is the reason why Cloud decided to join SOLDIER - so he could be just like Sephy. But, five years before the game is set, Sephy read about his past and how he was injected with JENOVA calls. This made him turn mad. He then went and destroyed Nibelheim. Now, he wishes to hit the planet with Meteor, then absorb the Lifestream that appears to heal the planet to become a God. But will AVALANCHE be able to stop him? Only time will tell... |
